GB&I IFCR Committee

Norman Brown (wife Liz)

Norman Brown (wife Liz)

GB&I Chairman & Secretary

Who better to lead such an agile band of athletes into the sub-continent as the man from Bourne, Rt Norman Brown PHF.

A regular tourist, raconteur, Toast Master and all round good egg, who else could take over the mantle from the diminutive Keith Hopkins?

Norman would like to hear from any Rotarian in GB & Ireland who has an interest in Cricket. Players and non-players welcome as IFCR GB&I seeks to develop a network cricket loving Rotarians to enjoy the fellowship that our national summer game can offer.

Norman can be contacted on: norman@rotarycricket.co.uk

Gerald Anderson (wife Anne)

Gerald Anderson (wife Anne)

GB&I Treasurer
Gerald Anderson has been member of Rotary Club of East Ham, London District 1130 since 1972 and President of his club three times, and has recently transferred to Brentford.

Gerald became IFCR treasurer in 1997 and has been G.B. & I. treasurer since 2001. A regular tourist, he has not missed a tour yet, although he is threatening not to tour India in 2012. If this is the case his defiant batting and canny bowling, as well as his specialist "shin stops" in the field will be missed.

STOP PRESS - Gerald is touring to Vapi!

GB&I Web Master

Rupert Cox (wife Angie, below on the right if you were in any doubt!)

Rupert has been a Rotarian since the summer of 2009 with the Rotary Club of Langport & Somerton in the heart of Somerset.

A keen, but decidedly average Club Cricketer, he has found a natural home for his cricketing prowess amongst fellow Rotarians who share his enthusiasm and in most cases, level of skill. A rotund village seamer and specialist slog-sweeper means that the cricket is never dull when Rupert is involved.

Rupert made his maiden voyage with IFCR to Durban for the 2010 Festival at the youthful age of 49.

Mike Jackson (wife Carol)

Mike Jackson (wife Carol)

IFCR GB&I Representative
A “60 year young”, overweight, cricketing enthusiast, who is still playing regular cricket for his club in the regional division of the Hampshire league, and for the XL Cricket Club.

Started playing at school in Singapore and Kent. Played for the Old Anchorians in Kent Club cricket before leagues were even thought of by soft southerners.

Moved to Hampshire in the 70’s and played club cricket in the Hampshire leagues. Wicketkeeper and top order batsman, who has scored a few centuries, but can still remember them all! So there are not that many.

Took over as World IFCR Treasurer in 1995, IFCR World Secretary in 1997 and IFCR World Chairman in 2003. Organised the first Rotary Cricket Festival in Fordingbridge in 1997 and has attended all the World Festivals. Has also visited Sri Lanka in September 2006 to review preparations for the Fifth Festival in Sri Lanka August 2007, and has been on many other tours and development trips.

Committee Member
Played league cricket in Wolverhampton and since 1980 for Newport C.C. in Shropshire Premier league. Formerly a fast bowler, but dodgy knees and spreading waistline have curtailed his speed. Now plays in Club’s 3rd XI and bowls niggardly line and length off a Shane Warne like run up. Hard hitting batsman. Once scored a century!

Rotary Club of Newport Shropshire, District 1210, President 2003/04. Chairman of District Humanitarian Grants Committee.

Recently retired as Partner in large commercial law firm in Birmingham ,specialising in commercial property development. Director and part owner of Worfield Golf Club. Married to Sue for 35 years (3 adult sons).

Toured New Zealand with IFCR in 2000 and 2002, and Hunter Valley 2004.
