IFCR 3020 VIJAYAWADA ON THEIR FELLOWSHIP TOUR TO IFCR 3150 HYDERABAD
Dear Cricket Loving Rotarians,
It was indeed an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable Rotary cricket fellowship during the last week end, when RI DIST 3150 renewed their friendly rivalry on the cricket field with fellow Rotarians from our neighbouring RI Dist 3020,who drove down all the way from Vijayawada on 01 March 2008 to be part of this cricket extravaganza.
Since there was very good response from the cricketing Rotarians of Dist 3150, two balanced teams were fielded, namely 3150 Blues ( led by Rtn.Jagdeep Saini) and 3150 Reds ( led by Rtn.Vishal Srivastav) to play on 01 Mar and 02 Mar 08 respectively against Dist 3020.
An exhilirating 20/20 game was played between 3150 Blues and the visitors under flood lights on the evening of 01 March 08 in the lush green ( although relatively small ) cricket field at Sarojini cricket academy ( VST) grounds near RTC Kala Bhavan ( Bagh Lingampally).3150 Blues emerged victors by dishing out a good all round and clinical performance in front of fairly good sprinkling of cheering Rotarians which included DGE DR.Sharath Babu of RI Dist 3150 who spared his valuable time to witness the game. The highlights of the game included creditable individual performances from Rtns.Sandeep/Jagdeep/Pankaj/Venugopal/Sreedhar Raju of 3150 and Rtns.Arun/Sreenivas/Penchalliah of 3020.
The game was followed by by a wonderful fellowship dinner/cocktails when the video clippings / stills of 5th World Rotary cricket festival held at Srilanka in Aug 07 ( in which RI DIST 3150 took part) was presented by Rtn.Sarathy with active participation of all the Rotarians of 3150 (who took part in the same at Srilanka) sharing their wonderful and memorable experiences of this festival.
The second game ( 30/30) was played between 3150 Reds and Dist 3020 teams on the next day ( 02 Mar 08) as a day match at the sprawling Hyderabad water works grounds,Amberpet from 0930 hrs onwards.Dist 3020 team made the series score one all by winning this game thanks to solid individual performances from the evergreen Rtn. Sam Movva and Rtns.Penchalliah/ Sreenivas (Pandu)/Sathya of Dist 3020. Rtns.Vimal Kumar/ Vishal Srivastav/Ashok Kabra excelled for 3150 with creditable display.
DG DR. Vijendra Rao of RI Dist 3150, kindly made it convenient to be present during the last one hour of the game to encourage the Cricketing Rotarians and distributed mementoes to the Visiting team from VZA 3020.
The undersigned placed on record the wonderful spirit of Dist 3020 team led by the veteran cricketing Rotarian PDG. Sam Movva supported by Rtns.Mohan/Sada Babu for kindly accepting to visit Hyderabad for the this Cricket fellowship and making it a thoroughly enjoyable event and also the excellent and dedicated team work of IFCR Board members and volunteers of 3150 which included Rtns.Vaman Rao/Shravan Malani/Samir Gupta/Vishal Srivastav/Sreedhar Raju/Sandeep Jhawar/Anil Goyal/ George ( all of RC Sunrise) Rtn.Vimal Kumar ( RC Hyd Centenniel),Rtn.Jagdeep Saini ( RC Ameerpet) Rtn.PR Ramesh( RC Secunderabad) and Rtns.Agam Rao/Karthic ( RC Hyd North).

IFCR 3150 HYDERABAD TEAM MAIDEN TRIP TO AUSTRALIA::::::::BUNDABERG FESTIVAL, BRISBANE OCT 2008
AUSTRALIAN ROTARY CRICKET FESTIVAL:: OCTOBER 2008
Keeping with the wonderful and laudable tradition of IFCR Rotary Cricket Festivals, which seems to have been conceptualised by true sportsman Rotarians, there are no Victors and Losers in these competitions. The games are designed and planned in such a way that everyone playing the game gets an oppurtunity to showcase whatever skills they have in the limited time they are allowed on the field.
It has been a sensational start for IFCR 3150 team in the Bundaberg Cricket festival hosted by IFCR Australia, which commenced in Bundaberg near Brisbane from 13th Oct 08 after the wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable pre festival fellowship cricket tour of Cairns and Northern Quensland country side ( Innisfail and Mission Beach ) from 4th to 10th Oct 08 by couple of members of RID 3150 team (Rtn.Agam,Rtn.Karthic,Rtn.Nadeem and yours truly Rtn.Sarathy ) along with IFCR Chennai and IFCR Newzealand teams.
A causal and well attended opening cermony was organised at the Civic
Centre on the night of 12th Oct... attended by more than 115 rotarian cricketers - 10 teams from Australia, One from Hyderabad, Chennai and New Zealand each...
After first two games (where Team RI 3150 from Hyderabad AP was fielded as one representative team and creditably remained unbeaten ) the third and fourth day of the Festival saw games being played by Mixed Teams, giving an oppurtunity for the Cricketing Rotarians from different clubs/districts/countries to mix and play, which is an ample evidence of how these fellowship tours bring them together to further the bonding and commarderie across the Rotary World.
The Australian Cricket Festival came to an end, with a well organised closing function on the night of 16th Oct,where each team raised toast to the other which was greatly heart warming reflecting the abundant bondage and brotherhood the IFCR Cricket fellowships stand for. Long live IFCR !!!!!!

"ROTARY BENGALURU CUP" HOSTED BY IFCR 3190, BENGALURU, KARNATAKA:::::DECEMBER 2008
IFCR Inter-State Cricket festival The "Rotary Bengaluru Cup" was held at Bengaluru hosted by IFCR 3190 from 9th Dec to 21st Dec 2008
It was Mr. Syed Kirmani, one of India’s most illustrious wicket keepers, who inaugurated the IFCR T- 20 three days cricket tourney on JP Nagar cricket grounds at 7-30 am on the 19th Dec 2008. District governor UB Bhat was present and wished the teams all the best and hoped the spirit of Rotary bonding should always be at the foremost. He distributed special team pins all around.
You all may recollect that 'Kiri' as Kirmani is fondly known, shared some incredible episodes of cricketing world. The 1993 world cup match between Zimbabwe and India was his all-time best and most historic. From 17 for 5 India bounced back to win match and later the World Cup. Kapil Dev scored a scorching 175. The BBC telly was on strike and there was no coverage. Kirmani scoring 39 run posted a partnership of 123 runs with Kapil. Kirmani’s all time best bowler is the former ace Indian leggie BS Chandrashekar.
The three day extravaganza was one of fun and games; enjoyable and competitive. Heeding to the call of District Chairman, Rajgopal Naidu, eight teams participated.
Rotary teams from Vijayawada (AP) , Chennai, Poona/Sholapur, Kerala, Salem, Mysore and Bangalore (two teams) had taken part. The matches were of T 20 format played with the normal IFCR rules and spirit. Participation was keen and enjoyable. There was good natured banter from all the players.
The comforts of the visiting players were taken care very well. They were put up in good serviced apartments and catered good food during their stay. Ground arrangements and transportation were commendable. The fellowship dinner nights organised on 19th and 20th were thoroughly enjoyed with true IFCR SPIRIT !!!
